Job Gains Beginning to Level Off In October, total non-farm payroll increased by 150,000 and the overall unemployment rate increased to 3.9%. This is roughly half of the gains seen in September. Transportation and Warehousing employment rates remained nearly unchanged as they have throughout the year.
