The new plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of 2.5 million tons of high-quality, low-emission steel and is part of Thyssenkrupp’s strategy to reduce its carbon footprint. The direct reduction process uses natural gas to produce iron, which emits less CO2 than traditional #steelmaking methods. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2025
