In September, total non-farm payroll increased by 336,000 and the overall unemployment rate remained steady at 3.8%. This is well above the average gains over the past 12 months which has hovered around 267,000. Transportation and Warehousing employment rates remained nearly unchanged in the past month, along with mining, construction, manufacturing and wholesale trade.
